Basic and other stages

For basic measurements, samples can be presented to the instrument using the spring-loaded plunger supplied. This method is designed particularly for paper and print samples, but also works well with a wide range of flat specimens (including the glass standard). This approach allows fast sample throughput. Measurements are normally made using the large measurement spot (nominally a 3 x 12 mm ellipse on the specimen).

A film holder is available for use with thin (but opaque) plastic films. It allows films to be held flat and presented for measurement using the basic plunger.

Other stages have been developed from time-to-time, including one for cylindrical objects and others for liquids. If you have specific requirements, please contact us.
